How to Make Money Online with Expired Domains (Part 2)

In case you haven't read part 1 of this article, please click here.

Automated grabbing system

There is another great way of keeping a tab on domains with a high volume of traffic that are due to expire. The automated grabbing system ensures that as soon as the domain becomes available, it is registered. One such service provider is www.snapname.com and they charge for the service only if the particular domain name becomes available. Such domain names can be sold for thousands of dollars.

Once a domain name is grabbed, the best way of finding a buyer is to register the domain on your name and then marketing the name and selling the domains to make a profit.

Setting a Price
This is a very important aspect of domain business. Too high a pitch will not get an immediate sale. For anyone looking to make an almost instant sale, a decent price range is important, keeping in mind the value of the domain name, the demand for that niche etc. A higher price can be fixed if one is willing to wait until a good offer comes their way but for some instant cash within a few hours, low is the way to go.

Selling expired domains
Selling the domain names on ebay is very easy because of the number of people looking to sell and buy them there and people just do not realize the amount of money that can be made in eBay. There are several other market places like Sitepoint and Digitalpoint where these domains can be sold for profit.

Other than selling, there are several other ways one can monetize on the expired domain names.

Buy Expired domain names for traffic
Buying expired domain names to get highly targeted traffic for cheap. This traffic can be driven to your website for just pennies a click and in turn increase sales due to the large traffic.

Mini websites with expired domain names
Buying expired keyword rich domains and building mini sites will show the website in top search engine rankings. These websites can be built using expired domain names to drive targeted traffic to them or to create a website and sell the domain name as a value addition. Domains with an attached website with good traffic are sold for higher dollars and are in great demand.

Expired domain names for affiliate products
Affiliate programs are a good way of running and profiting online without actually having a product of your own. Affiliate marketing entails redirecting traffic from the affiliate website to the website of the product owner and in turn earning a commission for any sales made. This is a great way of making money for newbies.

If affiliate marketing is the route taken, then expired domain names that target the market of the affiliate program should be bought.

There is a huge market out there for expired domain names, it only needs to be tapped. Some people may say that it has reached a saturation point, but that is nowhere near the truth. A lot of money can be made with expired domain names, if one only looks at the many ways of using them or even comes up with some new ways.

How to Make Money Online with Expired Domains (Part 1)

An expired domain is a domain that was registered previously but the owner did not re-register it. Once a domain name expires, it becomes available for anyone to register.

Expired domains have gained in popularity because of the traffic some of them may be having. A domain with an established source of traffic is considered a great bet. Savvy investors make a killing with expired domains.

There are a few ways one can make money buying and selling domain names for profit. It would help to understand how the whole process works.

Domain names are registered for a limited time, from one year to ten years. After this period of time, the domain name rights expire and the user has to renew the domain name. If this renewal is not done even after a period of time, the domain name is made available for anyone who wishes to buy it!

Each day thousands of such expired domain names are put on sale and some of them are well-established domains. These domain names may be ‘grabbed’ (the term used for buying expired domains) by anyone who is willing to buy them.

Buying expired domains
These domains can be bought for a few dollars and sold at high rates, especially if it is a domain that has built up targeted traffic over a few years. Looking for a good domain name with qualified traffic is the key to succeeding in the buying and selling process. Grabbing an expired domain name anywhere from $5 to $50 and selling it for $150 to $1000 is very much possible and in fact, there are great domains found and sold at much higher rates. Doing this on a regular basis with a few domains a week is a great way of making money with expired domains.

Reasons why people buy expired domains from you
There are several reasons people would be willing to pay high dollars to buy expired domain names. If the old owners missed renewing the registration for some reason, then the sky is the limit and they would be willing to pay a lot of money to get it back. Other business owners in the same field as the domain would be willing to pay for securing a good name with traffic.

What should one look for when buying expired domain names?

Factors to be taken into consideration when buying
If the expired domain name had a traffic of anything above 1500 during the previous month, then it is considered to be a good deal. Ensuring that the site is actually a consumer site selling something, is another important factor to be taken into consideration. If one can find a site with tens of thousands of visitors during the previous month, then the likeliness that the previous owners will be itching to get it back cannot be ruled out and this is gold for the person buying it.

Make Money with Affiliate Programs Using Ezine Articles (Part 2)

In case you haven't read part 1 of this article, please click here.

Step 3: Turn your approach into a tips list or tutorial.
Let's use my example again. I decided that I would describe various uses of autoresponders and how the reader can actually profit from them. What kind of tips list or tutorial could I create?

"How to Generate More Subscribers, Sales and Profits With Automated Follow-Up Messages"

"7 Powerful And Profitable Ways To Use Autoresponders To Skyrocket Your Sales and Subscribers!

"Want to Increase Your Online Profits And Leads? Here are 7 Ways to Do It..."

That's all you need to do. Determine your end result. Decide how to get there with your "useful, but incomplete" approach. And then develop a list, or even a step-by-step tutorial for your article that leads the reader along.

With each new "idea" or "way" or "tip" or "step" or "strategy" that you share, you can further direct the reader towards realizing their need of your upcoming offer, and lay the foundation for them to accept the offer.

Step 4: Expand on each point to build your content.
Here's more of the easy part. Just "fill-in-the-blanks" to complete your article.

Write 1-2 short paragraphs for each of your points. Make them good. Provide quality content. The offer you will soon make will see poor results if your information isn't useful.

Remember, you are trying to presell the reader on the idea that they are going to need your offer. If you don't provide them with quality information that they WANT to begin using immediately, then why will they want to buy what you are promoting?

Light a fire in them. Motivate them. Challenge them. Give them such nuggets of gold that they want to keep mining until they hit the mother lode!

Step 5: Put on the finishing touches with the "five pillars."
There are five things that you should always do to finish up your ezine article. Don't skip any of them. They are all critical...

1. Polish. Re-read your article. Does it provide information that really is "useful" to the reader? And yet leaves them wanting even more? That's what you want. Polish it. Put on the wax and make it shine. It has a very specific purpose -- make certain it has the means to achieve it.

2. Promote. Use your resource box to promote your offer. This is why we've written the article, right? Remember step one? It's time to put it into play. Give the reader what they (hopefully) are wanting...a way to maximize the information you gave them.

3. Proof. Don't do this yourself. Have a trusted friend, relative or co-worker check your article for grammatical and typographical errors. The last thing you want to do is present a poor image after sharing some high quality information.

4. Publish. Zip your new article out to your favorite list of publishers. Submit it to the announcement lists and the ezine directories. Don't forget to publish it yourself in your own newsletter!

5. Profit. If you've covered all the bases that I've mentioned, then profits are almost certain to start coming in when your ezine article is published. You deserve it. Be proud of your accomplishments.

And then start it all over again!
